My Impressions on Gallipoli: The End of the Road

MY IMPRESSIONS ON GALLIPOLI: THE END OF THE ROAD

I had heard that this was a really good movie so I had high expectations when I went to the movie theatre. I wasn't disappointed. From the grand opening scene of the battleships bombarding the shore to the climactic ending. This movie had me hooked from start to finish. Filmed in Turkey with a cast consisting of both Turkish and international actors, I could tell immediately that much effort had been into the making of this film.

Set during the Gallipoli war, the story focuses on two characters, Muhsin and Hasan. These brothers enlist in the army and are sent to the front line. Filled with drama and action, I highly recommend this film to anyone who enjoys watching war movies. Be aware that much of the dialogue is in Turkish with English subtitles however if that doesn't bother you then it's definitely worth a watch.

My Impressions on Oz: The Great And The Powerful

MY IMPRESSIONS ON OZ: THE GREAT AND THE POWERFUL

I wasn't sure what to expect when going into the theatre to watch this movie. I hadn't seen The Wizard Of Oz since I was a child but I remember it being a masterpiece, both visually and in the story. I wasn't sure if this new Oz movie would live up to the old one. Well, not only did it meet my expectations but it exceeded them by far. I was completely immersed in the world that was presented before me. The visual effects are top notch and the story took me away to that faraway land.

When the opening scene began, I was happy to see that the visuals paid tribute to the original by being presented in a black and white 4:3 aspect ratio. As the story progresses, the visuals slowly change into the full color, high definition widescreen aspect ratio that we're all used to today. Watching this movie in 3D adds much more depth and improves the experience.

I highly recommend this movie for children of all ages, (and big kids too :) ) especially in 3D.

My Impressions on Die Hard 5: A Good Day To Die Hard

MY IMPRESSIONS ON DIE HARD 5: A GOOD DAY TO DIE HARD

After the last movie, I had high hopes for this one. When I watched the preview I knew that this movie would be good and I wasn't disappointed. Right from the get-go, this movie is action packed. Teaming up with John McClane (Bruce Willis) this time is his son John McClane Jr. (Jai Courtney) I think it was a really good match up. The character of John McClane seemed a little arrogant in the beginning. The way he takes a strangers car during the car chase scene in the beginning of the movie made me think that there wasn't something quite right with the character.

As the bad guys kept coming, he would keep yelling "I'M ON VACATION!!!". This got old very quickly. Nevertheless I still loved the movie and can't wait for the next one.

My Impressions on Oblivion

MY IMPRESSIONS ON OBLIVION

As far as Action Sci-Fi movies go, I've seen my fair share. Some are absolutely amazing and really pull the viewer in while others have no effort put into them at all. This movie funnily enough, falls somewhere in the middle. During the beginning of the movie, the acting feels really forced but later on the actors seem to be more comfortable with their roles. Unfortunately the plot of the movie doesn't have much originality. I won't spoil it for you though.

I would recommend this movie on blu-ray but it's not worth the price of admission to the cinema.

My Impressions on Jurassic Park 3D

MY IMPRESSIONS ON JURASSIC PARK 3D

When this movie was first released all those years ago it wowed so many people. I'll never forget the first time I saw that massive dinosaur lumbering across the open plains. This time however, it just wasn't as amazing. I guess that's to be expected as it's commonplace now to see these kinds of cgi effects. That's not to say that I didn't enjoy watching the movie again on the big screen. I was hoping that bringing the movie into the realm of 3D would really add something to the experience. Unfortunately this was not the case.

The 3D effect was so subtle that it was hardly noticeable. I guess this is based on personal preference but when I watch a 3D movie, I really like the 3D effects to be noticeable to the point where objects look like they're about to physically pop out of the screen. I still had a good time watching the movie on the big screen again and would recommend it to children and big kids of all ages. Just don't expect a dramatic difference with the 3D.

My Impressions on G.I. Joe Retaliation

MY IMPRESSIONS ON G.I. JOE RETALIATION

Picking up from where the first movie left off, our heroes are sent around the world doing what they do best. This movie is action packed from start to finish and will satisfy any action junky. The 3D effects looked absolutely stunning and I left the movie theatre feeling like I really got my monies worth. My favourite scene by far is the ninja battle on the mountain. The entire movie could've been based on that one scene and I still would've been happy. It made me wonder why anyone hasn't already made a 3D ninja movie.

Anyway I highly recommend this movie to anyone who loves action movies and who doesn't mind fantasy violence. It would also be a good idea to watch the first movie before you watch this one.
